The Early Worm Gets The Worm is a 2D Physics-based platformer single player game about getting revenge on birds
Set around the theme: Roles Reversed
Created in: 48 hours
This game follows a worm that goes on an adventure to save his friend who was captured by a bird. The player uses a lil-shotgun in order to move around the levels and attack birds that get in their way. After 4 short levels, the game culminates in a final battle to save your worm friend.

Creation Process
Story
Me and Jude both went through many ideas for what to create in the theme of roles reversed. In the end we liked the idea of flipping the classic phrase "the early bird gets the worm" and make a small game about a worm hunting down birds. We then came up with a basic story of a worm friend getting stolen and then the player having to rescue them. This idea landed us in the position to make a final boss fight at the end and it worked out great!
Mechanics
We wanted to make a platformer, and so we gave our little character a gun to act as a core mechanic. The player would use the gun to propel themselves in different directions and also to attack the evil birds. The birds didn't have a lot of interesting mechanics as they would just path find over to the player. The final boss had some basic behavior scripts that let it dive down at the player and then dash across the screen.
